One of the most intelligent invertebrates on the planet, octopuses can be found throughout coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the ocean floor. They have many unique adaptations, including a skeleton structure which allows them to squeeze through tight spaces.
There are over 300 known species of octopus, many of which arewidely distributed around the world's oceans. All octopuses arevenomous, although only the blue-ringed octopus poses a threat tohumans. Thankfully, most species of octopus are not consideredthreatened or endangered, although some niche species are believedto be vulnerable.
