Laid in clutches of 10-12 individuals, tortoise hatchlings take up to 4 months to leave their eggs. When they're ready to emerge, they use their beak to break apart the egg and eat it as their first meal. Eluding predators, this tortoise has made it past the difficult early part of its life!
