The mopane (mopane Colophospermum) is an African tree. He is easily recognized by its butterfly-shaped leaves. The wood of the mopane is resistant to termites. In addition, its leaves are many wild animals of Africa as food. The Mopane thrives in hot, dry lowlands and offers residents the savannas hardly any shade. Since the leaves face the sun with the smallest surface area possible, the sunlight penetrating the crowns of these trees. Similar to the baobab, the Mopane has nutrient-rich leaves which feed people and animals. Its wood is used for house and instrument making, for making fences, and flooring.
